Block undesirable websites and pop-ups on Google Chrome

While surfing on some sites, you can be overwhelmed with pop-up pages of advertisement and publicity and some of them can sometimes hurt a user’s feelings, children using their laptops for example or just people not wanting to receive those advertisements. In order to get rid of those pop-up pages and publicity, you can install an add-block extension by going to the Chrome Web store, extensions, and typing block websites on the research field. You can then choose the blocker that suits you the most and add it to Chrome. The most used one is still AdBlock and work efficiently.

This is a problem that we all doubtlessly have faced and the solution described is presumably the most established one, because of its simplicity and time-efficiency. However, there are more sophisticated ways of dealing with such a problem, such as Pi-Hole (, which would have gained 5 stars in complexity. Moreover, I think that the topic is not really relevant to web engineering, but correct if I am wrong :)

Good and simple solution for a common problem. Not a really complex problem, but one that is of help for the average user anyways.

The problem is described fine and some examples are given. The solution is described step by step, so a simple user would definitely succeed and be happy with the outcome. Also the answer suggests a solution that is popular with the others. Good job!

Probably the fastest and most efficient solution there is out there. But I do have one question... How do you handle the webpages which can be accessed only with AdBlocker disabled?

This is also applicable for youtube ads, so it is quite a helpful advice for those unpatient!
