Get SMS birthday reminders

Beeing a lousy grandchild, I nearly forgot the birthday of my grandmother a few days ago. This happens to me serveral times a year and I always feel a bit ashamed. It’s even more annoying because I have all the birthday data of my family and close friends properly stored on my harddrive. Beeing a mac user, I use Apple’s address book application to manage my contacts and that’s also the place where all those birthday data is stored. To come to the point, I do have the right data but it’s not at the right place.

Semantic contact information in HTML

When writing HTML-documents, it’s quite common to provide some contact information in the document. One aspect of this, clearly is contacting information. To my knowledge, the usual way of providing this information is the addess-tag of HTML.

Download Flickr Favorites

The prominent foto and video sharing website flickr.com hosts billions of photos. For me, it is a fascinating and simple way of getting inspiration in a very visual way. I thereby use tags for searching, e.g. „holiday austria“, scan through the individual search results and mark those pictures as favorites which I really like. This way, I selected over 2200 fotos as beeing favorites to me. The process of marking those favorites consists of a single action, a click on the little star icon, located over the top left of each foto in the individual foto view.

Put online indicator in our web page

Sometimes as an administrator or service center of a web site we would like to show whether we are online or not so that the customers know that they could contact us directly (if we are online). Or simply as an individual we would like to allow our visitor to see us whether we are online and able to receive any instant message.

How to enable Java in Firefox 3.6

Since Firefox 3.6, the option box to enable Java (not javascript) in Preferences->Content is disappeared. Now, the question is: how to enable Java content pages in Firefox 3.6 or later? Because, on one side sometimes there is an important site for us that need Java. And in another side, some of us prefer to use Firefox (than any other internet browsers) and do not want to change our default browser to any other browsers.

How to get notified for each incoming e-mail

Sometimes we would like to be always updated by the incoming e-mail in our inbox. But then the problem is that sometimes, or more likely we have more than one e-mail account. It is so annoying to check for (and provide) each tab/window for these e-mail accounts.
